I’ll be at the annual Pendle Ski Club Open Day on Sunday 2nd October signing Ski A to Z first editions.

Pendle Ski Club Open Day offers free 30 minute fully instructed trial ski sessions from 10am until 4pm (arrive at 3pm for the last session). This is a great opportunity to get a taste for skiing and try the sport.

Pendle Ski Club is a member owned ski club in the Ribble Valley of Lancashire, home of Dave, ‘The Rocket’ Ryding, four times Olympian and Kitzbuehel Champion.

Looking forward to meeting lots of people at Pendle and helping to demystify skiing for those who are new to the sport with the tips, information and advice packed into the Ski A to Z book.

My Pendle BackStory

I always enjoyed racing and race training at Pendle, it is a well maintained slope fabulously situated for incredible far-reaching views, and of course the added mystique of the stories of the ‘Lancashire witches’ in that area.

Our school ski team won the North-West Ski Federation School’s Championship four years out of five at Pendle Ski Club which is probably a factor in my fondness for the slope.

Rossendale Free Press coverage of our third team win. We were two sibling pairs, the Harwoods and the Kays.

I remember good times skiing with friends there, and in particular a weekend training camp when it rained constantly both days, great conditions for artificial slope skiing, but we were drenched, so it was comforting to have the cosy club house to get warm during our breaks.

Manchester Book Signing

It was great to meet so many lovely people and sign Ski A to Z books at Chill Factore in Manchester on Monday.

The ski race event was the British Schools Indoor Open Championships organised by National Schools Snowsports Association supported by Snowsport England.

I was at the event to sign books and to raise awareness of Ski A to Z as an ideal resource for school ski trips. The book is informative and engaging on skiing, a great help to teachers, parents and pupils who are embarking on, or wanting to develop, their skiing.

It was fun to chat about skiing, and the feedback about my work was both heartwarming and inspiring.

Lovely to see some good ski friends not seen for years including Danny; we used to race together at Ski Rossendale and Rossendale Ski Club.

I used some of my ski fabric on my table and also customised my shirt sleeves. To see and buy my fabric designs click here.

If you are based in the UK and would like a signed first edition of Ski A to Z please email inspirebykim@outlook.com

Or to buy a book or ebook online visit the Ski A to Z page.

Th ski racing was exhilarating and the enthusiasm of the youngsters skiers was inspiring. The energy was high and I’m sure the youngsters were pleased to be skiing on a school day.

Some of the children arrived in their school uniforms carrying ski boots and ski helmets.

Here is one of the school ski trip themed illustrations I have been working on lately for an upcoming magazine article.

Ski A to Z Book Signing – Interview on BBC Radio Lancashire

It was great to speak to Shigufta Khan live on BBC Radio Lancashire on the morning of the book signing at Ski Rossendale on Saturday 9th April.

To listen to the interview press play below…

Ski A to Z is an illustrated introduction to skiing. Information and links to buy Ski A to Z are here.

I have done numerous radio interviews in my work in past, in travel PR, so it’s nice to now talk about my own products and work. I appreciate the support from BBC Radio Lancashire, it’s lovely station that has made a huge difference to the community through the times restricted by Covid-19.

Please like and share with friends and colleagues who may be interested in skiing.

Thank you

Ski Buddies Memory Game

I mocked up this ski themed matching pairs game concept prompted by the Make Art That Sells Brief from Lilla Rogers and Riley Wilkinson.

This memory match game would be ideal for a snowed in afternoon, time relaxing in the chalet, or time at home dreaming about the next ski trip.

The concept uses illustrations painted in watercolours for the Ski A to Z book, composed into the game concept in Procreate app.

Here’s a time-lapse video of the mock- up process.

It feels great to complete this assignment, I had to put the Make Art That Sells Bootcamp brief to one side whilst completing the writing and illustrations for Ski A to Z.

These and 90 other illustrations bring the information and advice of the Ski A to Z book to life. Information and links to buy the book can be found here. The book is being published by Meyer & Meyer Sport (UK)

Ski A to Z Book by Kimberley Kay - placed on snow.

The illustrations and game concept are available for licensing at the time of posting.

This game is just a concept at present, however you can find the Après-ski boot illustration as playing cards and a jigsaw puzzle at my Zazzle shop.

Thank you so much for being here. Enjoy your day.
